Hotel Alternatives in Tagaytay - Houses For Rent

People who travel to the city of Tagaytay for the first time are awed by the beauty of the surrounding hills and mountains, and the unique topography of Taal Lake and its volcano. Tagaytay City is an hour and a half's drive south of Manila, and it is the usual destination of families and friends who want to get away from the city even for just a day or two.

Getting there is relatively easy - driving a car, one would pass through the freeway and exit at Santa Rosa, then pass through rolling valleys dotted with hundreds of pineapple orchards alongside wooden furniture and handicraft shops. Visitors know when they are nearing Tagaytay when they see the first fruit stands lined up along the sides of the road. Tagaytay is famous for its fruits, vegetables, flowers and plants, including mangosteen, a round, purple fruit with luscious pulpy white flesh that is slightly tart and sweet, and its plump bananas, sweet mangoes, and of course, juicy pineapples.

Another way visitors will know that they have reached the outskirts of Tagaytay is when the air begins to become cooler and balmier. This air is so different from the air in the city, that even a whiff of its freshness is enough to rejuvenate visitors.

A whole day trip to Tagaytay offers plenty of relaxation and dining opportunities for visitors, although it is highly recommended to stay overnight in one of its many hotels, bed and breakfasts, and inns. Because of Tagaytay's proximity to Manila, it has also become a popular place for locals and foreigners to buy property for investment or vacation houses. Tagaytay actually started out with many private vacation homes overlooking the peaceful lake and volcano, and just expanded into the ultimate mini-vacation destination it is now.

For a change, why not stay at a Tagaytay house for rent? Since there are many vacation homes which are not occupied through most of the year, many vacation house owners have decided to offer their private homes to vacationers. These private homes are generally quite comfortable and fully-equipped with modern amenities such as bathrooms with hot and cold showers, kitchens with refrigerators, microwaves, and stoves, air conditioning units in each room, and the like. Most vacation houses for rent in Tagaytay have a view of the famous lake, although there are some that are located more inland, but which also have a generous view of the surrounding countryside.

Renting a house instead of staying in a Tagaytay hotel definitely has its advantages. Below is a list of reasons why it would be a good idea to rent a house:

Cost

The cost of renting a house is infinitely less than that of staying in a hotel or inn, especially if there are more than 10 people in a party. A house for rent in Tagaytay normally starts from 5,000 pesos a night for a two- to three-bedroom unit with kitchen and bath area plus balcony, to more than 10,000 a night for a house with multiple bedrooms, a loft, complete amenities, and its very own private garden and balcony overlooking the lake. Compared to hotels with room prices ranging from 1,500 to 5,000 pesos a night for a standard room for only two people, renting a house is a big ease on the budget.

Convenience

Staying in a house offers guests the opportunity to relax and be themselves. Staying in a hotel inhibits freedom in a way, because guests have set hours for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and guests have no chance to be comfortable in their clothes and outfits. Imagine staying in a hotel or inn and not being able to go out in sleepwear. It somehow defeats the idea of the purpose of a trip to Tagaytay - for some rest and relaxation. Some hotels are also quite strict with noise especially starting at 10 o'clock in the evening, so if people are planning to have a party, a hotel or inn is a definite no-no.

Meals

Tagaytay has its share of fancy restaurants and eateries, and although it's a pleasure to sample what they have to offer, it's also a pleasure to have one's own barbecue and drinks on the terrace of a house for rent. Most houses for rent have facilities for a barbecue pit, and all houses have their own kitchens where guests can cook their own meals, as well as kitchenware and utensils such as pots, pans, knives, plates, forks and spoons. The Tagaytay market is a delightful place to visit because it has a very fresh meat and vegetable selection. Guests can then choose to prepare their meals at the comfort of a house, instead of relying on restaurants or hotels for the duration of their stay.

Other Amenities

Houses for rent in Tagaytay also have their own extra amenities, such as a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a game room with billiard or table tennis and board games, or balconies and terraces with tables and chairs where guests can lounge around and relax. This is perfect for whole day celebrations with friends and family, and for just taking in the view of the whole lake and volcano and basking in the fresh air.
